Virginia Tech Rolls Over Radford, 129-73

RADFORD, Virginia, October 20. THE Virginia Tech women defeated Radford, Friday, 129-73. The team won all 13 events of the meet, held in Radford's Dedmon Center Natatorium.

Tech's Courtney Walsh posted a pool-record 100-yard freestyle during the meet. She clocked in first at 55.16, smashing the previous record of 56.69. It was the second individual-event win of the night for Walsh, who also took home the top spot in the 200-yard freestyle.

Rebecca Horning also had a two-event night for Tech. The junior touched the wall in 25.30 for the win in the 50-yard freestyle, while also taking the 100-yard butterfly in 59.22. Julia Bradford was the third Hokie with a double-event win for the evening. Bradford swept both boards, winning the 1-meter with 206.92 points, followed by the 3-meter with 200.40 points.

Tech was the fastest team in both relay events. The relay squad of Jordan McHorney, Morgan Kowalchuk, Horning and Walsh pooled their talents for a 1:51.29 win in the 200-yard medley relay. The team of Julie Sablik, McHorney, Claire Dickey and Sara Shapiro combined in the 200-yard freestyle rely for the top spot. Their time totaled 1:42.14.

Other event winners for the night were Lauren Dillon in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:55.11), Dickey in the 200-yard individual medley (2:11.36), Sarah Ameen in the 100-yard backstroke (1:00.21), Beth Byrum in the 500-yard freestyle (5:08.38) and Kowalchuk in the 100-yard breaststroke event (1:09.03).
