NEW COMMIT: High school junior Noah Bowers has announced his verbal commitment to NC State University. Bowers is from Roanoke, Virginia, where he swims for Virginia Gators. His Gators teammate Emma Muzzy will join the Wolfpack this fall.

With a year remaining in his high school career Bowers is a strong backstroker and butterflier. A 2017 US National Select Camp attendee, Bowers is a three time Virginia 5A state champion. Swimming for Patrick Henry High School he won the 200 IM as a junior. He was the 100 backstroke champion sophomore and junior years, and is the 5A state record holder in the 100 backstroke.

Bowers also holds records at the club level, where he is the Virginia LSC 15-16 record holder in the 100 and 200 backstrokes and butterflies and the 200 IM. He also swam backstroke on Virginia Gators senior Virginia LSC record 200 (1:28.47) and 400 (3:15.60) medley relays.

His top times include:

  • 200 Fly 1:44.94
  • 100 Fly 47.91
  • 200 Back 1:44.46
  • 100 Back 47.94
  • 50 Back 22.62
  • 200 IM 1:46.77
  • 100 Free 44.68
  • 50 Free 20.45

Bowers wrote,

“I’m super excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim for NC State! Thank you to everyone who has helped me along the way. I can’t wait to be a part of such a great team and swim under some of the best coaches!”

Just this weekend the Wolfpack finished fourth at the NCAA Championships. At February’s ACC Championships Bowers’ best 200 backstroke time would have landed him in the C final while his best 200 butterfly would have scored points in the B final. He’d also be a B finalist in the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke and a 200 IM C finalist.
