Video: Katie Hoff Gets a Surprise Proposal on Pitching Mound at Tampa Rays Baseball Game

TAMPA, Florida, April 22. KATIE Hoff might have thought nothing was out of the ordinary Sunday as she stepped onto the mound at Tropicana Field to throw out the ceremonial first pitch. But her life would change with four words from her boyfriend.

Todd Anderson, a former football player from Michigan State, ran onto the mound before Hoff could throw the pitch to the team mascot. With a bouquet of flowers in hand, Anderson quickly proposed to Hoff. Judging by the bear hug Anderson gave Hoff, she agreed to marry him.

Hoff still had to throw out the pitch, and Anderson ran to the plate to catch the ball, which was just shy of reaching the plate.

Watch the exciting proposal and pitch in the video below:

Hoff will compete in her first senior-level meet in two years this week at the Arena Grand Prix in Mesa, Ariz., which will also feature fellow Olympians Michael Phelps, Ryan Lochte and more.
