Video Interview: SwimMAC’s Pam Swander Talks About Age Group Dominance

GREENSBORO, North Carolina, December 12. SWIMMAC has been putting together some amazing relay swims lately under head coach David Marsh. Pam Swander, the North Region Manager and Head Coach, took time to talk about the two-region setup at SwimMAC as well as her role with the team during the USA Swimming Winter Junior Nationals.

While SwimMAC had a tremendous Team Elite outing at the USA Swimming Winter Nationals with Nick Thoman’s American record trifecta, its age group program has grown into one of the best in the country as evidenced by the depth-demonstrating 1-2 in the women’s 400 medley relay tonight.

SwimMAC owned the women’s 400 medley relay with a top-two sweep. Nora McCullagh, Maija Roses, Else Welshofer and Lauren Rhodes won in 3:38.17. That smashed the 2012 meet record of 3:40.15 set by Crow Canyon. Heather Merritt, Caitlin Casazza, Alyssa Marsh and Jessica Merritt took second in 3:40.68. Y-Sparaquatics wound up third in 3:41.21.

Swander also talks about the difference for her between coaching at SwimMAC and her previous stop as one of the top collegiate assistant coaches in the country at Indiana University.
