Olivia Smoliga finished fifth in the women’s 100 free on the first night of U.S. Nationals, booking her spot to swim this summer at the World Championships. Smoliga spoke with Swimming World Wednesday morning, before she jumps into the 50 and 100 back.
Smoliga explained why she’s excited to have her spot on the World Champs team taken care of before her best events and how she is adapting to racing freestyle long course after so much success in the NCAA format. She also discussed how she has managed the transition to pro swimmer during a difficult few months that included dealing with mono.
