Ashley Neidigh was the U.S. Winter National champion in the women’s 500 free Thursday night, and she dropped some five seconds off her lifetime best to finish in 4:34.47. Neidigh, who did not score in the 500 free at the NCAA championships last year, has flourished as a post-grad swimmer at Indiana University.

Friday morning, after qualifying for the A-final of the women’s 200 free, Neidigh explained why she wanted to continue swimming past college and why she decided to make the move to Bloomington to continue her training. Neidigh explained how she felt to make such huge improvements and accomplish goals she held as teenagers, and she discussed what she expects will be her future in swimming.
