Leah Smith won a close women’s 200 free battle to begin the TYR Pro Swim Series in Mesa. The 2016 Olympian won the event in 1:59.12, just ahead of Allison Schmitt (1:59.57).

Smith, who was a finalist in this event at Worlds, discussed how she dealt with a recent injury but said she finally feels good in the water again. The former Cavalier also talked about leaving Virginia to start a new chapter in Arizona, calling it a fun adventure but a big adjustment.
