Katie Ledecky finished first in the 800 freestyle and sixth in the 100 freestyle, most likely making the World Championships team in both races. Ledecky was satisfied with her time of 8:11.50 in the 800, as she is barely rested. After winning the 800 tonight, she is choosing not to swim the 1500 on Saturday knowing that she has already made the team.

Leah Smith finished second to Ledecky in the 800 freestyle, just off her time from last year’s Olympic Trials with an 8:20.46. A little disappointed with her performance in this event at the Olympics, Smith has her sights set high for Budapest.
