Video: Catherine Vogt Details Haley Anderson’s and Ous Mellouli’s 10K Races in London – Part 3

NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana, September 20. THE third of three parts of USA Swimming open water head coach Catherine Vogt’s talk at the American Swim Coaches Association’s world clinic details the process that she took to get Haley Anderson and Ous Mellouli ready on the day of the 10K marathon swim at the Olympic Games last year.

With Anderson and Mellouli processing information differently and both approaching race strategy differently, Vogt had the task of using different methods to get them prepared for the swim in the Serpentine in London. In the end, it was successful preparation, as Mellouli won the men’s race and Anderson collected silver in the women’s race.

The talk concludes with general discussion about open water and getting young athletes into this branch of swimming, as well as some training tips for open water athletes.
