Bailey Klafehn has committed to swim for Coach Mandy Commons-DiSalle at the University of Cincinnati beginning next fall. Klafehn swims for Victor Swim Club in New York where she is a freestyler.

The senior swam the 50 and 100 freestyle at Winter Juniors this summer. Last summer she helped lead Victor Swim Club to a third place finish at the East Coast Futures Championships.

She explained her decision,

“I chose Cincinnati because the team made me feel like I was at home and everyone seemed like they were a part of a big family. The coaches and the team were great to be around and I felt like I would fit in perfectly. I can’t wait to continue swimming and my academics at UC. Go Bearcats!”

Her best times are:

  • 50 Free 23.38
  • 100 Free 51.93
  • 200 Free 1:54.79

Klafehn will be a point scoring addition to the Bearcats’ efforts at the American Athletic Conference Championship. At last year’s meet she would have been a 50 freestyle B finalist. The team finished fourth at last year’s meet. Junior Jacqueline Keire was the team’s only point scorer in the sprint freestyle events last year. She will have graduated by Klafehn’s arrival.
