Madeleine Kovacs has verbally committed to swim for the University of Vermont next fall. Kovacs currently swims for Scottsdale Aquatic Club and Desert Vista High School in Phoenix, Arizona, where she is a team captain and a four-year letterwinner.

She’s the 2016 City Champion in the 200 free and helped Desert Vista claim the Arizona D1 State Championship in 2013 and runner-up finish in 2015. As a junior, she placed 10th in the 100 freestyle and 14th in the 200 freestyle at the 2015 Arizona D1 State Championships.

Five of her current times would have placed her in the B final at the 2016 America East Swim & Dive Championships.

Her best SCY times include:

100 free – 53.76
200 free – 1:54.96
500 free – 5:07.72
1000 free – 10:37.38
1650 free – 17:55.42
200 fly – 2:13.66
400 IM – 4:37.11

“I chose the University of Vermont because of the exceptional academics and the dedicated coaching staff. During my visit, I immediately felt like I was part of the team. I can’t wait to continue growing as a swimmer, student, and person at such a magnificent school!”
