Valerie Grand’Maison Sets Two Paralympic World Records

MONTREAL, Canada, February 25. VALERIE Grand'Maison unofficially broke two short course Paralympic world records this past weekend at the Aquam Provincial Championships in Montreal, Quebec.

Grand'Maison broke the 50m freestyle world mark clocking 27.69, breaking her old record of 27.71 set in 2006. Grand'Maison also broke the world record in the 400m freestyle with a time of 4:35.01, eclipsing her previous mark of 4:35.77 set in 2006.

As one of Canada's top swimmers with a disability, Grand'Maison is training hard for the Canadian Swimming Trials, where she will race for her chance to represent Canada at the 2008 Paralympic Games in Beijing. The Canadian Swimming Trials take place April 1-6 at Olympic Park Pool in Montreal, Quebec.
