Nicole Fye has committed to swim at Ohio State University, according to a tweet from her high school, Rock Ridge High.

Fye, who swims for McLean, Virginia’s The Fish, is a mid-distance to distance freestyler, who also has a strong 200 butterfly. Her best short course yards times are:

  • 200 Fly: 2:01.99
  • 200 Free: 1:50.23
  • 500 Free: 4:55.60
  • 1000 Free: 10:14.24
  • 1650 Free: 17:04.94

Fye, a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American, is the defending Virginia 4A High School Champion and state record holder in the 200 freestyle (1:50.23). She was also last year’s runner up in the 500 free (4:58.62). The Rock Ridge team finished third.

Ohio State was fourth at the 2016 Big Ten Championships. Earning a finals swim in the 200 butterfly required a 2:00.79 last season. Fye dropped just over a second in that event in the past year. With continued improvement, she could enter scoring range by the time she heads to Columbus next fall. It also took a 16:46 to score in the 1650 and a 4:49 to register points in the 500.
