Utah vs. Stanford

STANFORD, California, October 20. A quartet of Cardinal kept Stanford (4-0) undefeated in a 155-124 win over Utah (0-1) in the Pac-12 debut of the Utes on Thursday.

Matt Thompson (backstroke), Curtis Lovelace (breaststroke) and freshman Kristian Ipsen (diving) swept their events, while Aaron Wayne also won the 100 free and 100 fly.

Ipsen, in his final tuneup prior to the Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico starting on October 26, scored wins in the one-meter with a score of 378.60, over 75 points ahead of teammates Connor Kuremsky (309.90) and Dhruv Tyagi (306.30) and a tally of 431.10 in the three-meter, over 100 poitns ahead of teammates Taylor Sishc (329.40) and Noah Garcia (328.28) who were second and third.

Lovelace, also a part of the winning 400 medley team (3:17.51), won the 100 breast with a time of 55.85 and then later in the day led the field in the 200 breast (1:59.53). Thompson and Matthew Swanston finished 1-2 in the 100 back with time of 49.48 and 49.60 and then were right behind one another again at 1:47.30 and 1:48.22 in the 200 back.

Wayne's time of 44.63 int eh 100 free proceeded his winning time four events later, in the 100 fly, at then an exhibition, at 50.19. Stanford won 15 of 16 events.

Both men's and women's teams host its alumni on Saturday at 9 a.m.
