Uster International: International Invite Features Italian Record

USTER, Switzerland, January 28. JOHANNES Dietrich offered the top swim of the two-day short course meter Uster International held in Switzerland over the weekend. Dietrich shot down the meet record in the men's 100 fly with a top time of 52.37.

Dietrich finished the meet with three titles overall as he also touched first in the 50 free (22.46) and 100 free (49.30).

Oleg Lisogor, a Ukrainian world champion, swept the breaststroke events with wins in the 100 (59.57) and 200 (2:10.10). Meanwhile, Mattia Aversa claimed the backstroke swims with triumphs in the 100 (54.48) and 200 (1:57.94). Alessio Boggiatto also earned a double with victories in the 200 (1:58.67) and 400 (4:12.84) IMs.

Other wins for the men came from Gianfranco Meschini in the 200 free (1:47.85), Ilya Larin in the 400 free (3:49.82) and Anders Frahm in the 200 fly (2:00.17).

For the women, Canada's Laura Pomeroy snared the sprint free events with wins in the 50 (25.33) and 100 (55.47), while Laura Borghetti captured the 200 (2:00.95) and 400 (4:12.43) free events.

Romina Armellini took home the backstroke crowns with wins in the 100 (59.49) and 200 (2:08.68), while Ambra Migliori swept the butterfly events with wins in the 100 (1:01.50) and 200 (2:11.87). Notably, Armellini's effort in the 100 surpassed Alessia Filippi's record of 59.54 set in December 2005.

Louise Jansen also doubled with victories in the 200 (2:15.21) and 400 (4:46.49) IMs.

Patrizia Humplik and Carmelo Schlegel split the breaststroke titles with Humplik winning the 100 (1:08.82) and Schlegel taking the 200 (2:30.94).
