USC Opens Year With Sweep of UNLV

The USC men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams defeated UNLV on Saturday. The Trojan men won 146.5-110.5. The women won 168-89.

The USC women started the meet with Justina Kozan, Kaitlyn Dobler, Genevieve Sasseville and Vasilissa Buinaia winning the 200 medley relay in 1:41.04.

Dobler won the 100 breaststroke in 1:01.76. Kozan won the 200 butterfly in 2:01.16. Buinaia won the 100 free (50.53).

USC’s Anicka Delgado won the 50 freestyle in 23.35 and 100 butterfly in 55.14. Marlene Kahler won the 1000 freestyle (10:03.34) and 500 (4:54.66). Claire Tuggle won the 200 free in 1:49.32. Caroline Famous won the 100 backstroke (55.15). Alice Waldow took the 200 back (2:01.10).

In the men’s meet, USC’s Michal Chmielewski won the 1000 free in 9:23.24 and the 200 butterfly in 1:45.17. Vaggelis Makrygiannis won the 100 back in 48.45 and 200 back (1:46.60). Artem Selin won the 50 free (20.06) and 100 free in 43.92. Chris O’Grady won the 200 breast (1:59.56). Krzysztof Chmielewski won the 500 free (4:30.53).

UNLV’s Cameron Castro won the 200 free in 1:38.62. Danny Beji won the 100 breast in 54.18.

The last few events saw USC exhibition its top swimmers.
