USC Gets Verbal Commits From Breaststrokers Lara Bate and Isabelle Odgers

NEW COMMITS: The University of Southern California has received verbal commitments from two breaststrokers for the Class of 2022: Lara Bate and Isabelle Odgers. They’ll spend a year training with the Trojan’s current breaststroke leader Kristen VoseMaggie Aroesty is a freshman this year and will likely set the pace for the breaststroke group during Bate’s and Odgers’ time in Southern California. Erica Sullivan is also verbally committed to the Class of 2022.

Lara Bate

“I am so excited to announce my commitment to the University of Southern California! I have always dreamed about becoming a trojan and I can’t wait to become a part of such an incredible program! When I visited I immediately felt at home and I know that at at USC I will be challenged both in and out of the pool. I feel so lucky to be a part of such an amazing group of people! Fight on!”

Bate lives in Baltimore where she swims for North Baltimore Aquatic Club. Her best times include:

  • 50 Breast 30.81
  • 100 Breast 1:04.27
  • 200 Breast 2:!5.26

Isabelle Odgers

“I feel so blessed to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at the University of Southern California! I am so thankful for my family, friends, and coaches for all of their help and support. I couldn’t be more excited to become a Trojan! Fight on!!!”

She’s a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American and a NISCA All-American. She’ll make the move to Los Angeles from Alison Viejo, California where she is a senior at Santa Margarita Catholic High School and trains with Irvine Novaquatics. At last spring’s CIF Southern Section Division 1 Championships Odgers was fourth in the 200 IM and fifth in the 100 breaststroke.

  • 200 Breast 2:12.47
  • 200 IM 2:01.88
  • 400 IM 4:18.39
