USAS Convention Cancelled Due to COVID-19 Pandemic
The 2020 United States Aquatic Sports (USAS) Convention, scheduled for September, has been cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
USAS President Bill Smith made the announcement Friday in a letter to affiliated organizations. The USAS convention had been scheduled for Sept. 22-27 in Jacksonville, Fla.
Wrote Smith:
Many factors have weighed on this decision, namely the overall uncertainty of the circumstances, the likely inability for us to gather safely as a large group or travel across the country, and the effect this ongoing situation has on our ability to plan, coordinate and execute this extensive and interactive in-person assembly.
The USAS unites USA Swimming, USA Diving, USA Synchro, USA Water Polo, and U.S. Masters Swimming. The USAS Convention has been held annually since 1979, an important date on the calendar for governing bodies to meet. Its 2021 convention is slated for Atlanta.
