USA Swimming Winter Nationals: Yannick Agnel Claims Second Title; Wins 200 Free

ATLANTA, Georgia, December 2. YANNICK Agnel, who won the men's 400 free last night, captured the men's 200 free tonight going away at the USA Swimming Winter Nationals. Agnel clocked a 1:46.36, short of his fifth-ranked season best of 1:44.99 from Worlds.

Trojan's Ricky Berens placed second in 1:47.12 to move to 15th in the world rankings, while Darian Townsend finished third in 1:47.64.

Clement Lefert (1:47.97), Jean Basson (1:48.26), Garrett Weber-Gale (1:48.59), Michael Klueh (1:48.68), Blake Worsley (1:48.92), Sebastien Rousseau (1:49.44) and Charlie Houchin (1:49.71) comprised the rest of the championship field finishes.

Robert Renwick stopped the clock in 1:49.31 for the B final win, while Matt McLean (1:49.66) and Adam Ritter (1:50.08) touched second and third. Guillaume Strohmeyer (1:51.64), Scot Robison (1:51.80), Michael Smit (1:51.99), Shaune Fraser (1:52.04), Tyler Reed (1:52.11), Ryan Cochrane (1:52.34) and Bjoern Hornikel (1:53.21) snagged the other consolation heat times.

Nimrod Shapira Bar-Or topped the C final in 1:50.41, while Stefan Hirniak finished second in 1:50.69. Peter Vanderkaay placed third in 1:51.23, while Samuel Metz (1:51.94), Michael Flach (1:51.99), Vladimir Sidorkin (1:52.34), Phillip Morrison (1:52.57), Max Jaben (1:52.60), Matthew Segar (1:53.61) and Conor Dwyer (1:53.68) grabbed the rest of the top 30 times.
