USA Swimming Sectionals, Santa Clarita: Palo Alto Stanford Has Strong Showing on Night Four

SANTA CLARITA, California, July 29. PALO Alto Stanford picked up two wins last night from Rachael Acker and Jasmine Tosky, while Peak Swimming's Tom Kremer won his fourth event of the meet during the second to last night of racing in Santa Clarita.

Irvine Nova's Ella Eastin, Friday night's winner of the 400m IM, proved to be just as good at the shorter distance as she won the women's 200m IM in 2:18.58. Palo Alto Stanford's Alicia Grima made her work for it though, touching right behind in 2:18.65. Davis Aquadarts' Beverly Nguyen came in third at 2:21.56. In the men's race, Peak Swimming's Tom Kremer continued his domination, winning by more than two seconds for his fourth victory of the weekend. Palo Alto Stanford's Curtis Ogren touched second in 2:05.48, with Aquazot's Corey Okubo in third (2:06.97).

After two second place finishes, Palo Alto Stanford moved into the winners circle after Rachael Acker posted the top time of 26.09 in the women's 50m free. Andi Murez of Team Santa Monica came in second at 26.13, while Orange County's Lindsey Engel rounded out the top three in 26.46. De Anza Cupertino's Shayne Fleming stroked his way to victory in the men's 50m free, hitting the pads in 23.33. Stephen Saeta out of Rose Bowl Aquatics finished .08 behind in 23.41, while Team Rebel Aquatics' Guilherme Passos swam a 23.74 for third.

Palo Alto Stanford kept their momentum going in the next event, as Jasmine Tosky picked up a win in the women's 400m free with a 4:12.97. She crushed the rest of the field, as second place finisher Erin Emery of Sandpipers of Nevada touched more than five seconds later in 4:18.59. Michaela Merlihan of Irvine Nova also broke 4:20 with a third place 4:19.26. Mission Viejo's Logan Redondo dominated the men's race with a three second victory. He swam a 4:00.51 to out-pace teammate George Schnaars (4:03.60) and Canyons' Matthew Johnson (4:03.76). Results of the 400m freestyle relays were not available.
