USA Swimming Sectionals, Minneapolis: Final Night in the Books

MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota, July 24. THE last evening of long course meter racing went in the books at the USA Swimming Sectionals held in Minneapolis.

Academy Bullet Olivia Scott won the women's 200 IM in 2:19.63, while Kathleen Patterson placed second in 2:21.17. Wisconsin's Ashley Wanland finished third in 2:22.32. Wildcat's Alex Tyler claimed the men's 200 IM in 2:05.28, while Peoria Area's Matt Elliott took second in 2:08.26. Minnesota's Richard Hills garnered third in 2:09.19.

Minnesota's Lissa Tommerdahl stopped the clock in 16:49.67 to win the women's 1500 free, while Wisconsin's Danielle Beckwith took second in 16:56.73. Academy Bullet Rebecca Mann, 12, completed the podium with a third-place 17:10.87. Minnesota's David Hawker grabbed the men's 1500 free title in 15:58.50, while Hinsdale's Daniel Thomson touched second in 16:04.76. Blue Devil's Daniel Conway finished third in 16:21.14.

Wisconsin went 1-2 in the women's 50 free with Rebecca Thompson winning in 25.71 and Ruby Martin taking second in 26.35. St. Croix's Hannah Bowen earned third in 26.37. Wildcat's Dong Kim snatched the men's 50 free crown in 23.08. Minnesota went 2-3 to complete the podium with Michael Richards taking second in 23.15 and Stephen Miller earning third in 23.24.
