USA Swimming Sectionals, Indianapolis: Eric Solis Lowers Sectional Standard

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana, March 26. DURING the second night of long course meter swimming at the USA Swimming Sectionals held in Indy, Michigan Lakeshore's Eric Solis downed a sectional mark.

Solis clipped a sectional record in the men's 400 IM with a 4:29.03. That performance cleared the 4:29.33 set by Honza Vitazka back in 2002. IU's Samuel Trahin touched second in 4:30.01, while Carmel's John Stuy turned in third with a 4:36.62.

Kingfish's Caroline Arakelian touched out Indiana's Courey Schaefer, 2:04.69 to 2:04.77, in the women's 200 free. Carmel's Margaret Ramsey wound up third in 2:06.48. IU's Titus Knight followed in the men's 200 free with a winning time of 1:53.08. Jimmy Barbiere grabbed second in 1:53.36, while IU's Eric Ress rounded out the top three in 1:54.19.

Kingfish's Madison Wright, 13, cruised to a win in the women's 100 fly with a 1:02.32. Mason Manta Rays' Dani Jansen picked up second in 1:02.73, while Michigan's Emily Bos touched third in 1:03.62. IU's Tyler Shedron won the men's 100 fly in 56.80. Lake Shore's Joseph Craven took second in 57.45, while Indiana's Jonathan Hueni earned third in 57.64.

Carmel's Patricia Regan smashed the field in the women's 400 IM with a 4:54.68. Oakland Live Y'er Megan Fox finished second in 4:57.06. Berkeley's Lauren Ross wound up third in 5:03.17.

Michigan Lakeshore's Nicole Cordero, Courtney Bartholomew, Taylor Garcia and Emily Bos won the women's 400 free relay in 3:56.10, while teammates Benjamin Mosterd, Kyle Taylor, David Moore and Eric Solis topped the men's 400 free relay in 3:34.76.
