USA Swimming Sectionals, Greensboro: SwimMAC Conquers First Full Day of Swimming

GREENSBORO, North Carolina, March 9. SWIMMAC Carolina was definitely in its element at the USA Swimming Sectionals held in its backyard of Greensboro, as many of its pros took home top hardware during the first full day of swimming.

Kathleen Baker, 15, touched out Rays' Rebecca Postoll,14, 2:02.67 to 2:02.70 for the women' s200 free title. Both swimmers cleared the U.S. Olympic Trials cut. Dynamo's Kylie Stewart, 15, earned third-place honors in2:03.70.

SwimMAC's Davis Tarwater earned the men's 200 free title in 1:50.54, while Dynamo's Matias Koski picked up second in 1:51.87. SwimMAC's Peter Brumm completed the top three in 1:51.96, all three under the Trials cut. Iaro Denysenko finished fourth in 1:52.35.

SwimMAC's Micah Lawrence raced to victory in the women's 100 breast with a 1:09.29. That swim is just outside the top 25 in the world this year. Virginia Gators' Won Sin Hye finished second in 1:10.30, while Justine Mueller earned third in 1:11.09.

SwimMAC's Nelson Westby (1:03.15) and Eric Knight (1:03.51) took first and second in the men's 100 breast. Hawk's Michael Baric finished third overall in 1:05.11.

SwimMAC's Andrea Georoff touched in 1:00.99 to win the women's 100 fly. TNT's Kirsten Nitz placed second in 1:01.31, while SwimMAC's Kate Mills placed third in 1:01.51.

SwimMAC's Eugene Godsoe snagged the men's 100 fly title in 53.04, jumping to 18th in the world rankings with the swim. Tarwater (53.38) and Nick Thoman (55.01), also of SwimMAC, took second and third.

Mueller bounced back from third in the 100 breast to win the women's 400 IM in 4:51.97. Kylie Stewart placed second in 4:55.87, while SwimMAC's Nicole Emery touched third in 4:56.45.

YMCA Hub Fins' Tynan Stewart topped the men's 400 IM in 4:23.18, while MPSC's Zachary Lierley took second in 4:28.04. Dynamo's Jay Litherland placed third in 4:32.18.
