USA Swimming Sectionals, Gainesville: Ryan Lochte Doubles With Swift 200 Back

GAINESVILLE, Florida, July 11. DAYTONA Beach's Ryan Lochte put a cap on the USA Swimming Sectionals held in Gainesville with a double that included a top-15 time in the men's 200 back. The meet took place in long course meter format.

Lochte improved his season best in the men's 200 back with a winning time of 1:58.41. That time cleared his 19th-ranked season best of 1:58.74, and leapfrogged Lochte up to 11th in the world rankings. Daytona teammate Rex Tullius placed second in 2:01.48, while Club Seminole's Andrew Hodgson took third in 2:05.16. Lochte also picked up a victory in the men's 100 free with a top time of 50.56. Lake Forest's Conor Dwyer placed second in 51.28, while Scott Sommer touched third in 52.26.

Gator's Stephanie Proud, who already has a 13th-ranked season best of 2:09.99 from March, won the women's 200 back with a 2:11.22. Gator teammate Gemma Spofforth picked up second in 2:15.77, while Team Florida's Lauren Driscoll snagged third in 2:17.26. Proud doubled up with an 8:45.35 in the women's 800 free. Driscoll finished second as well with a 8:45.97, while Brandon Sport's Sharla Milne took third in 8:51.17.

Gator's Jemma Lowe won the women's 200 fly in 2:14.95, while Ana Anaya of Metro Aquatic placed second in 2:16.56. NCA's Anna-Liisa Pold wound up third in 2:16.61. Gator's Sebastien Rousseau earned the men's 200 fly title in 2:02.09, while Area Tallahassee's Hunter Hinson took second in 2:03.95. OLY's John Robert Lehtonen placed third in 2:07.54.

Club Seminole's Jocelyn Phillips surfaced from a competitive finale in the women's 100 free with a 57.49. Patriot's Sarah Bateman (57.60), Lindsey McKnight (57.68) and Area Tallahassee's Abbie King (57.91) also cleared 58 seconds.

Gator's Sarra Lajnaf won the women's 200 breast in 2:34.76, while Fast Lane's Lysistrati Halkides touched second in 2:35.43. Scarlet's Kristine Ng posted a third-place effort of 2:40.28. Bolles' Miguel Molina hit the wall in 2:19.86 to win the men's 200 breast. Swim Florida's Robert Kennedy earned second in 2:22.56, while Lehtonen grabbed a second podium with a third-place 2:23.14.

Davie Nadadores' Yoelvis Pedraza topped the men's 1500 free in 15:53.11, while Sarasota YMCA's Nicholas Caldwell placed second in 15:57.07. Brandon Sport's Jason Taylor earned third in 16:03.01.
