USA Swimming Sectionals, Columbia: Bobby Bollier, Elizabeth Smith Double

COLUMBIA, Missouri, July 23. KANSAS City Blazer Bobby Bollier and Parkway's Elizabeth Smith doubled during the second evening of long course meter action at the USA Swimming Sectionals held in Columbia, Mo.

Bollier opened the night with a 1:51.01 in the men's 200 free for the win. Teammate Kevin Webster (1:51.66) and Jayson King (1:52.54) rounded out the top three. Bollier returned in the men's 100 fly with a 53.66 to capture that event. Mizzou's David Dorak finished second in 55.46, while Heat's Andy Schranck took third in 55.55.

Parkway's Elizabeth Smith won the women's 100 fly in 1:01.32, while Chesapeake's Katherine Whitbeck touched second in 1:02.42. Millard's Shannon Guy claimed third in 1:02.88. The women's 200 free results were not made available at press time.

Smith completed her double with a 4:46.77 in the women's 400 IM. That performance beat the listed region record of 4:49.64 set by Katie Yevak in 2001. Hawgs' Jamie Marks took second in 4:53.64, while Kansas City Blazer Shannon Vreeland placed third in 4:53.73. Webster picked up the men's 400 IM crown in 4:33.29. Dolphin-Laser's Troy Esentan finished second in 4:35.29, while Kansas City Blazer Austin Acheson touched third in 4:36.46.
