USA Swimming Sectionals, College Station: Ediz Yildirimer, Alyssa Conner Win Distance Titles

COLLEGE STATION, Texas, March 4. THE USA Swimming sectional meets started back up with three meets tonight, each featuring distance events. The College Station stop had swimmers competing at Texas A&M for sectional titles in short course yard competition.

The Woodlands' Ediz Yildirimer, 16, won the men's 1000 free with a 9:06.34, just missing the meet record of 9:06.31 set by Anthony Fleming in 2005. Palo Alto Stanford's Adam Hinshaw, 16, finished second in 9:06.70, while Loveland's Jacob Ores, 16, wound up third in 9:09.18.

Texas A&M's Alyssa Conner notched a 9:48.08 for the women's 1000 free victory, while North Texas Nadador Claire Singley, 17, took second in 9:59.26. Texas A&M's Liz Nelson claimed third overall in 9:59.53.
