USA Swimming Revises Schedule, Adds Irvine Pro Series Stop in November

USA Swimming announced the addition of the TYR Pro Swim Series at Irvine to the 2020-2021 national events calendar. The event is scheduled to take place November 12-15, 2020 at the William Woollett Jr. Aquatics Center in Irvine, California.

USA Swimming also removed the August regional events that were originally on the schedule because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

All USA Swimming events will be subject to local, state and federal health guidelines, and the schedule will continue to change if necessary for the safety of athletes, coaches and fans.

The Irvine addition will mark the second of six stops on the 2020-2021 TYR Pro Swim Series calendar. Other stops for the upcoming TYR Pro Swim Series season include Richmond, Va., Knoxville, Tenn., San Antonio, Texas, Mission Viejo, Calif., and Indianapolis.

As athletes continue to prepare for the unique 2021 Olympic year, the TYR Pro Swim Series at Irvine will feature a flipped competition schedule, with finals in the morning and prelims at night, to mimic the Olympic Games schedule in Tokyo in July 2021. The same flipped-schedule format will also be used at the TYR Pro Swim Series at Richmond, also in November 2020, and the TYR Pro Swim Series at Mission Viejo in April 2021. Start times for all flipped-schedule competitions will be announced at a later date.

The event is expected to feature Olympians, record holders and U.S. National Team members. Athletes competing in Irvine will be vying for prize money and qualifying times for the U.S. Olympic Trials – Swimming, which will take place June 13-20, 2021 in Omaha, Nebraska.

Competition from Irvine will be streamed daily on, while NBCSN will host a Nov. 14 taped-delay showing and a Nov. 15 live showing of the morning’s finals.
