USA Junior Nationals: Day Five Prelims Notes & Results

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana, August 10. THE Speedo Junior National Championships headed down the home stretch with heats of the 50 free and 200 IMs during the fifth-and-final day of preliminary action.

Women's 200 IM
Parkland Aquatics' Breanna Folk topped qualifying with a time of 2:18.61, just in front of Bluefish's Elizabeth Beisel, who placed second in 2:18.71. Dallas Mustang Spindrift Beck finished third in 2:19.43, while Aquazot Lyndsay De Paul touched fourth in 2:20.72.

Men's 200 IM
Duneland Aquatics' Kyle Whitaker earned lane four with a time of 2:06.17, just a second off the meet-record of 2:05.71 set by Matt Thompson last year. Thompson, representing the Dallas Mustangs, finished second in 2:06.61, while Aiken-Augusta Swim's Martin Kata took third in 2:06.79. The Peddie School's Josh Charnin-Aker comprised the rest of the 2:06 times with a fourth-place 2:06.81.

Women's 50 freestyle
Sun Devil Aquatics' Traycie Swartz posted the quickest time of the morning in the 50 free with a readout of 26.21. Pirate Aquatics' Karlee Bispo did not finish far behind with a second-place 26.26. Arlington Aquatics' Katie Radloff placed third in 26.41, while Gator Swim's Lily Ramirez took fourth in 26.46.

Men's 50 freestyle
Chattahoochee Gold's Michael Arnold paced the morning heats with a time of 23.61. Dubuque Area's Jordan Huff took second while tying Waukesha Express' Weston Lagerhausen with matching 23.71s. Longhorn's Jonathan Jackson tied with Swimming World Magazine's High School Swimmer of the Year Austin Staab of Westerville with 23.83s.
