Macarena García Garay has verbally committed to swim for the University of Toledo beginning in the fall of 2017. García Garay is a versatile swimmer from Spain.

She said of her decision, “I am very excited and I am looking forward to this experience. I will do my best to help the team improve.”

Her best times are (Meters/SCY conversion):

200 IM: 2:20.41 (LCM)/ 2:03.13
400 IM: 4:55.41 (LCM)/ 4:18.77
200 Fly: 2:18.03 (LCM)/ 2:02.98
100 Fly: 1:03.18 (SCM)/ 56.86
200 Breast: 2:35.80 (SCM)/ 2:20.11
100 Breast: 1:12.14 (SCM)/ 1:04.87
200 Back: 2:18.57 (SCM)/ 2:04.72

Toledo swims in the Mid-American Conference where García Garay has the potential to make quite the splash for her new team. At last season’s Conference Championship, she would have finished as the 400 IM runner up with her converted time. She’ll also have a solid shot at the NCAA B cut, a 4:19.39 last year. In that event, which showcases García Garay’s versatility, the Rockets only had one other scoring swim. She would also be an A finalist in the 200 IM.

In the 200 butterfly and 200 breaststroke she has B final scoring capabilities, assuming a smooth transition to short course yards.
