University of Tampa Adds Francesca Rusca to 2017-2018 Roster

Houston Swim Club’s Francesca Rusca has committed to swim for the University of Tampa beginning in the fall of 2017. Rusca has an interesting event combination as she is strong in both backstroke and breaststroke.

Her best times are:

50 Back 27.67
100 Back 58.78
200 Back 2:04.48
100 Breast 1:07.72
200 Breast 2:27.83

She shared,

“I chose The University of Tampa for it’s great business school and cohesiveness of the swim team and coaching staff. I’m excited to be a Spartan and looking forward to the next four years! Go Spartans!”

Rusca would have been the Spartans’ top finisher in the 200 backstroke at last year’s Sunshine State Conference Championship. She would be a point scorer in both backstroke events. Her best time in the 200 puts her within striking distance of the NCAA Division II B cut in that event. She’ll have one year to train with backstrokers Allison Chandler and Katie Bayes in Tampa.
