Ukraine’s Andrii Khloptsov Narrowly Misses 50 Fly Meet Mark at 2015 FINA World Junior Championships

Ukraine’s Andrii Khloptsov just missed the men’s 50-meter fly meet record with a win at the 2015 FINA World Junior Championships.

Khloptsov chased down the title in 23.64, just off Daniel Bell’s meet mark of 23.61 from 2008 in Monterrey, Mexico.

The time was well off the World Junior record of 23.28 set by Evgeny Sedov at the 2014 Russian Nationals.

USA’s Michael Andrew captured silver in a time of 23.84, while Russia’s Daniil Pakhomov placed third overall in 23.89.

Spain’s Alberto Lozano (23.95), Croatia’s Bruno Blaskovic (23.98), Poland’s Michal Chudy (24.45), Russia’s Vladislav Kozlov (24.54) and Brazil’s Vinicius Lanza (24.57) comprised the rest of the championship heat.
