Two Time WA 100 Back State Champ Emma Frey Verbally Commits to University of the Pacific

NEW COMMIT: Emma Frey, a senior at Mt. Vernon high school, and a versatile swimmer for Washington’s Bellingham Bay Swim Team, has announced her verbal commitment to swim for the University of the Pacific beginning next fall. She swims under Coach Jay Benner.

The USA Swimming Scholastic All-American is a two time 100 backstroke state champion and a Junior Nationals qualifier in the 100 and 200 back.

Frey’s best times include:

  • 100 back -55.53
  • 200 IM -2:05.87
  • 200 back- 1:59.46
  • 400 IM -4:26.60
  • 100 free-52.76

Frey shared,

“I’m so excited to train for Peter and swim outdoors everyday! I can’t wait to be apart of the team atmosphere and be a tiger!”

She also said that she chose the University of the Pacific because she “loved how close knit the team was and Coach Peter is so enthusiastic to be around. I also really loved the campus of the school and that it’s in California.”

Miranda Padilla and Allie Emery are also verbally committed to the Tigers’ Class of 2022.

Frey’s club teammate Yanran Le has verbally committed to Columbia University. Club and high school teammate Emma Carlton is headed to Texas A&M next fall.
