Two-Time Colorado 5A State Champion Niki Silolahti Chooses Utah
NEW COMMIT: The University of Utah has received a new commitment for the 2021-22 season and beyond from Junior National qualifier Niki Silolahti of Centennial, Colo.
He will join Baylor Lewis, Sam Tenhulzen, and Lucas Calderon as a member of the Utes’ class of 2025.
He told Swimming World:
“I’m incredibly excited to announce my verbal commitment to the University of Utah Swim and Dive team. Thank you to all my coaches, teammates, friends, and family for supporting me along the way. Go Utes!”
A talented sprinter, Silolahti does his club swimming with the Aquawolves Swim Team and earned five best times at intrasquad meets throughout August and September. Last December, he competed on two relays at Juniors West after winning the 100 free at the Pioneer Open.
In Summer 2019, he raced three events at Colorado LCM Seniors before going on to record two best times at Arena Western Zones.
His best times include:
- 50 free – 20.92
- 100 free – 45.78
- 200 free – 1:45.21
- 100 fly – 53.29
Also competing for Cherry Creek High School, Silolahti was the runner-up in the 100 free and placed ninth in the 50 free as a sophomore at the Colorado 5A State Championships. He also led off the winning 4×50 free relay in 21.69 and the 4×100 free relay in 46.94.
Under head coach Joe Dykstra, Utah finished fifth overall in the team standings at the 2020 Pac-12 Championships.
