Two More Names Added to USA Swimming Banned for Life List

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado, May 17. IN the past week, two more names were added to the USA Swimming Banned for Life list.

A Sean Mendoza of Georgia and a David Teel out of North Carolina were both added to the list for violations of USA Swimming's Code of Conduct 304.3.5.

This code prohibits “Any sexual conduct, advance or other inappropriate sexually oriented behavior or action directed towards an athlete by (i) a coach member or other non-athlete member, or (ii) any other adult participating in any capacity whatsoever in the affairs or activities of USA Swimming (whether such adult is a member or not). Any nonconsensual physical sexual conduct, or pattern of unwelcome advances or other sexual harassment in connection with or incidental to a USA Swimming-related activity by any person participating in the affairs or activities of USA Swimming (whether such person is a member or not) directed toward any member or other person participating in the affairs or activities of USA Swimming.”

The actual details of each case are unavailable at this time.

“Teel and Mendoza were banned for violations of article 304.3.5 of the USA Swimming Code of Conduct,” USA Swimming's Jamie Olsen replied when Swimming World asked about the additions. “USA Swimming has no tolerance for such violations, and therefore has an administrative review process in place to revoke membership.”

Teel's ban date was April 10, while Mendoza's ban date was April 16. Members of the banned list are afforded a 30-day appeal period before being added to the public version of the banned list.

So far this year, USA Swimming has added four people to its Banned for Life list. A William Hudson out of Delaware was added on Feb. 21, while the much-publicized Bryan Woodward of Florida was added on March 7.
