BARCELONA, Spain, August 4. JESSICA Hardy had an emotional night in the Palau Sant Jordi, celebrating the high of winning two world championship medals in one night, then experiencing the agony of losing an irreplaceable item.

At the conclusion of the meet, Hardy gave away the backpack she had been using throughout the week to one of the volunteers. Nothing out of the ordinary about that, since most athletes tend to thank volunteers for their hard work with apparel and trinkets. Shortly after surprising a lucky Barcelona native, Hardy realized her engagement ring was still inside the bag.

She took to Twitter immediately to see if her followers could help with the search:

I gave away my arena backpack w my engagement ring in it. To a volunteer in blue shirt. Pls rt & help me find it. Please!!!!!!– Jessica Hardy (@swimhardy) August 4, 2013

Please!!! It’s in the top little zipper pocket on the inside of the bag. Please RT– Jessica Hardy (@swimhardy) August 4, 2013

It only took 30 minutes for Hardy to get some good news:

I GOT IT!! Thank u #bcn2013 for ur AMAZING volunteers. Amazing amazing– Jessica Hardy (@swimhardy) August 4, 2013

That was good news for fiance Dominik Meichtry, who is in Barcelona as a competitor for Switzerland.
