The University of Virginia has added Erin Earley to the roster for the 2017-2018 season. Earley swims for Hopkins Mariner Swim Team in Connecticut. She is a senior at Hopkins School.

Her best times are:

  • 100 Back 53.74
  • 200 Back 1:54.29
  • 500 Free 4:46.62
  • 1000 Free 9:43.18
  • 1650 free 16:08.20

Earley shared,

“I fell in love with Virginia the moment I stepped on campus and I knew that it was the place for me. The coaches are amazing and I truly believe that they will help me get to the next level in my swimming career. The girls on the team are so nice and I can’t wait to be a part of their team next year!”

Earley swam both backstroke events and the 400 IM at Olympic Trials this summer. She was also a multiple event finalist at NCSA Junior Nationals in March.

For the last four years, Courtney Bartholomew excelled in the backstroke events for UVA. The Class of 2021 is taking a huge step toward filling that hole. Abby Richter and Marcie Maguire are both backstrokers who have verbally committed. Earley also brings in ACC scoring times. Her best 100 backstroke would have finished in the B final at last year’s conference meet. In the 200 backstroke she would have been an A finalist. Her distance freestyle times will also be a huge addition. With a B final worthy 500 freestyle and a top eight mile at the ACC meet, Earley can help fill the hole Leah Smith‘s graduation will leave.
