SARATOGA, California, October 18. During a busy college swimming weekend, one of the top recruits in the nation decided to make the call to Georgia as Santa Clara’s Aidan Burns has committed to being a future Bulldog.

Burns, who is ranked the top recruit in the nation by CollegeSwimming.com, is a Junior Pan Pacific Championship silver medalist who swims for head coach John Bitter.

This past summer, Burns took second in the 400-meter freestyle at Junior Pan Pacs, as well as placed ninth in the 200-meter free and 11th in the 1500-meter freestyle events.  Last summer, he also competed at the World Junior Championships in the 200-meter free.

Burns brings some seriously fast times to the table for Georgia.  He posted a 1:45.36 in the 200-yard IM during the NASA Junior National Championships this past March, and he ranges up to a strong 1000-yard free with an 8:51.80.  His other top-ranked short course yard times are in the 500-yard free (4:17.97), 200-yard back (1:44.37) and 1650-yard free (14:57.07).

In long course competition, Burns has an 8:05.35 in the 800-meter free and a 3:52.51 from Junior Pan Pacs in the 400-meter freestyle events.

Not sure if he’s as good of a swimmer as he is good looking….

Perhaps he should consider a side career in modeling… he’d be my top recruit
