SAN ANTONIO – It’s been a very memorable start to 2015 for Tom Luchsinger. The 200 fly national champion came out as gay recently, and competed in his first meet since making the announcement public. In this video interview from the Arena photo shoot this past weekend, Luchsinger talks about the aftermath of his announcement and what lies ahead for him in the pool.

Luchsinger said life has not changed for the most part since coming out, noting that friends and family have embraced him – figuratively and literally – with lots of support. Training with the elite squad at North Baltimore Aquatic Club, he said, has been going well, with coach Bob Bowman “wanting us to succeed and give us a kick in the pants when we need it.”
