Todd Smith Resigns as First United States Masters Swimming Executive Director

PHOENIX, Arizona, February 20. ACCORDING to a post on the United States Masters Swimming (USMS) web site, the organization's first executive director, Todd Smith, has left USMS less than a year into his tenure.

Smith, who joined USMS as its Executive Director in May of 2007 from USA Diving, where he was the CEO and Executive Director for 25 years, left USMS to join Duraflex International.

According to the news posting at the USMS web site, president Rob Copeland will assume the responsibilities of the position until a new Executive Director is hired. A search committee has been formed to fill the position.

"While Todd's stay with United States Masters Swimming was short, his contributions in the areas of executive management of a sports NGB and professional growth of the organization are greatly appreciated," Copeland said. "We at USMS are grateful for his service and leadership, as our first executive director, and we wish Todd well as he moves into his new position with Duraflex International."
