To Beijing and Back, Episode 3: At the Great Wall

GreatWall

BEIJING, China, August 10. THE third episode of To Beijing and Back features China’s most popular landmark: The Great Wall.

Before host Brent Rutemiller takes viewers to the Great Wall, he meets David Marsh, coach of a few swimmers who will likely win medals in Beijing, at the Beijing airport.

Upon arriving at the Great Wall, Rutemiller offers a history of the massive landmark, which is seen through thick smog. The Wall was not only built to keep out invaders, but to unite provinces and dynasties in China, according to Rutemiller.

Rutemiller also talks about the construction of the wall, from the holes that allowed soldiers to shoot arrows to the small buildings where food was stored for the sentry.
