Three Games Records Set at Indian Ocean Island Games

ANTANANARIVO, Madagascar, August 18. THREE Games records fell during swimming events at the Indian Ocean Island Games held in Antananarivo, Madagascar over the past week.

Alexandre Morin, from the French island of Reunion, broke the men's 200 fly record with a time of 2:08.12, while Shrone Austin of Seychelles clocked a time of 2:25.66 in the women's 200 fly. Eric Rajohnon of Madagascar eclipsed the men's 200 breast standard with a gold-winning effort of 2:25.00.

Austin added the women's 200 fly title to four other crowns. She won the 200 free (2:09.16), 800 free (9:27.09), 200 breast (2:47.26) and 400 IM (5:11.80). She was joined on the women's side by a trio of Reunion swimmers to double. Anne Hoareau won the 50 (27.81) and 100 free (1:00.15), Cecilia Hernandez took home the 50 (31.81) and 200 back (2:31.93) and Geraldine Huffner claimed the 50 (34.81) and 100 breast (1:15.38).

Other women's winners included Christelle Francois in the 50 free disability with a time of 38.78 and Marjorie Hoareau in the 100 fly (1:05.43).

Boris Steimetz and Benoit Debast of Reunion controlled most of the men's meet. Steimetz touched first in the 50 (23.35) and 100 free (51.16), 50 back (28.29), 50 breast (30.92) and 100 fly (56.25). Debast, meanwhile, claimed victory in the 200 (1:57.06) and 1500 free (16:30.38) and the 400 IM (4:51.38).

Other men's triumphs came from Victory Scody of Madagascar in the 50 free disability (35.78), Adam Gael of Mauritius in the 200 back (2:14.68) and Kevin Toulet of Reunion in the 100 breast (1:08.54).
