Three Australian Masters Records Fall at Challenge Stadium Pool

PERTH, Western Australia, August 6. CHALLENGE Stadium Pool, the venue for the 2008 FINA World Masters Championship, was in short course format on Aug. 4 for the AUSSI Masters 1500-meter State Swim. Along with a swag of State records, three Australian records were broken.

Sally Bell of Claremont AUSSI Masters club, who earlier this year briefly held the LC 200-meter 45-49 world backstroke record, set an Australian mark in the 1500 backstroke with a time of 21:16.14, breaking the previous record by almost 1:50.

Bold Park AUSSI Masters' Victor Paul came into top form in the 60-65 1500 freestyle with an Australian record of 20:14.90, 19 seconds under the previous record. On the way through, Paul took 8.99 seconds off the Australian 800 mark with a split time of 10:43.02.
