Germany’s Theresa Michalak made a strong appearance at the Sizzlin’ Summer Invite in Atlanta this past weekend. The meet drew a few world-ranked swimmers who put forth solid in-season times, but none more so than Michalak.

Among the highlights included Michalak’s 200-meter IM. She just missed her season-best mark by swimming a 2:13.61. She’s currently 30th in the world with a 2:13.06, but her time at the meet was fast enough to be 39th in the world. Michalak blew away Elizabeth Beisel, who finished second with a 2:17.47. Michalak had solid splits on all four legs of the race, going out in a 29.02 in fly. She turned around and busted out a 34.85 in back and 38.32 in breast before coming home in a 31.42.

Despite adding nearly 14 seconds from her seed time in the 400-meter IM, Beisel still managed to break the FINA World Top 50 with a 4:44.13. Her fastest time this season has been a 4:36.71, which sits seventh in the world.

Sebastien Rousseau, the 16th ranked swimmer in world for the 200-meter fly, swam a nice in-season 2:01.65 to win the event.

Nikita Denisyako vaulted to 56th in the world after previously being unranked after he popped off a 2:01.23 in the men’s 200-meter IM. Denisyako, a Texas A&M alum, hails from Moscow.

The meet ended Sunday with a few finals scratches from Beisel, Rousseau, and Denisyako.
