Featured Meets of the Week

1. Bloomsburg vs Gannon vs Indiana (PA)

The number 14 ranked Huskies for men’s and women’s will face Gannon and Indiana (PA) at the Crimson Hawk Invitational this weekend. Bloomsburg holds top times in most of the freestyle events but in the 50, Meghan Gallagher (23.78) will have Gannon’s Morgan Lydic (23.88) and Emily Nottingham (23.90) on her toes. Gannon also has the top butterfly and IM times going into this weekend.

On the other hand, on the men’s side of things, Indiana hold most of the top times in the freestyle events and Bloomsburg looks to take most of the stroke events. The medley relays should be tight between the two teams as well. The Huskies with a 1:30.98 and the Crimson Hawks going in with a 1:31.73 in the 200 medley relay.

2. Indianapolis vs Missouri-St. Louis

The number 11 ranked men’s team and the number 22 ranked women’s team will face fellow D2 team, University of Missouri-St. Louis this weekend. A strong match up with UMSL ranked number 25 for the men, Indianapolis have a chance to defend themselves in this match up. Indianapolis’ Marius Bornkessel and UMSL’s Diogo Dias will have a battle in the sprint freestyle events, as well as the two teams being almost even in both the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays.

On the women’s side UMSL will have a tough match up against the ranked Indianapolis. The Greyhound’s plethora of freestylers will make for strong competition for the Tritons. Well matched in the butterfly events, UMSL’s Amber Visser (58.37) will go up against Indianapolis’ butterfly duo Laura Bem (58.81) and Shelby Sexton (58.93). This will be a good opportunity for the Triton’s to face some strong competition before Championship season begins.

3. Florida Tech vs Rollins

Florida Tech will face D3 opponent Rollins this Saturday. Making it’s way up to number 12, the Panthers will be good competition for the smaller Rollins College. Florida Tech holds the top times in every even but in the 50 and 100 freestyle events Nir Barnea will have to watch out for Rollin’s Benjamin Gebauer.

However, in the women’s competition, it will be a much tighter race, with Rollins holing most of the top times over the Panther’s. Florida Tech looks to take the backstroke events, while Rollins should take both breaststroke events. In the 50 freestyle the top 3 swimmers from each team have posted almost identical times. The top two Panthers are Dar Raz with a 24.27 and Lauren Suarez with a 24.62 while the top two Ter’s are Madeleine Minetree holding a 24.20 and Kylie Pillard with a 24.65.
