The Morning Swim Show: FINA Masters Worlds Update; Wrapup of Olympic Trials in Europe and Asia; USA Diving Nationals; Wendy Wyland Diving Invitational

PHOENIX, Arizona, April 22. THE Tuesday edition of The Morning Swim Show wraps up some major swimming and diving competitions that took place over the weekend and visits a diving meet honoring an American legend.

In the news segment, host Brent Rutemiller mentions some of the world records set in Perth, Western Australia, in the first three days of the FINA Masters world championships. On the elite swimming level, Olympic trials in Japan, Germany and France are causing news. World records were chased in Japan, a world record holder suffered an upset in France and swimsuit technology caused a stir in Germany.

Rutemiller also lists the names of winners at the USA Diving spring nationals, which wrapped up last weekend in Minneapolis.

The show concludes with a visit to Ft. Lauderdale, where Bruce Wigo talks to Wendy Lerew, coach of Team Orlando Diving, about the Wendy Wyland Memorial Invitational competition. Lerew talks about competing with the late Wendy Wyland in the 1980s and how reliable Wyland was in executing her dives. Lerew also talks about the level of competition at the Wyland Memorial meet, highlighting the tough competition at the junior level.
