Texas Longhorns Keep Distance Star Chris Yeager In-State

Chris Yeager has given his verbal commitment to the University of Texas. The Sugar Land, Texas native will be a big help to the Longhorns. Yeager swims for Nitro Swimming in Austin.

Yeager explained to Swimming World,

“I chose to swim at the University of Texas because of its incredible team atmosphere and legendary coaching. The academics at the University also fit exactly what I was looking for. I can’t wait to start my time as a Longhorn!”

The high school senior’s best times are:

  • 500 Free 4:24.39
  • 1000 Free 8:58.77
  • 1650 Free 14:55.04
  • 400 IM 3:57.28

At Olympic Trials this summer he swam the 400 and 1500 freestyle.

The Longhorns won the Big 12 and NCAA Titles in 2016. He would have finished second in the conference in the 1650 last season. Clark Smith, the event’s winner, will have graduated by Yeager’s arrival. He also has conference level A final worthy 500 freestyle and 400 IM times.

Luke Bowman has also given the Longhorns his verbal commitment.
