Texas Cruises To Top Seed in 400 Medley Relay at NCAAs

Texas raced its way to the top seed in the men’s 400-yard medley relay at the 2016 NCAA Division I Men’s Championships.

John Shebat (45.87), Will Licon (51.11), Joseph Schooling (45.51) and Jack Conger (41.92) cruised their way to a 3:04.31 for the top seed.

The Longhorns are looking to break a tie with Stanford for the most 400 medley relay victories in NCAA history. Both have won the event 12 times.

Missouri’s Carter Griffin (47.15), Fabian Schwingenschlogl (50.62), Andrew Sansoucie (45.69) and Michael Chadwick (41.20) qualified second in 3:04.66. The Tigers are looking for the program’s first NCAA title of any kind, and could pull off the upset here in the medley relay.

Louisville’s Grigory Tarasevich (45.65), Carlos Claverie (51.42), Pedro Coutinho (45.62) and Trevor Carroll (42.23) earned third overall in 3:04.92.

California (3:05.32), NC State (3:05.88), Indiana (3:05.90), Tennessee (3:05.94) and Florida (3:05.99) also made the final heat.
