Texas A&M Adds Lydia Palmer of Jersey Wahoos to Class of 2022

NEW COMMIT: Texas A&M University has added a new member to its roster for the fall of 2022 from U.S. Open qualifier Lydia Palmer of Marlton, New Jersey.

She will join Duru Tanriverdi, Manita SathianchokwisanSarah LankfordBlakely Schuricht and Hadley Beeson as a member of the Aggies’ Class of 2026.

She told Swimming World:

“Howdy! I am thrilled to announce my verbal commitment to further my academic and swimming career at Texas A&M University! I’d like to thank my past and present teammates and coaches for always being there for me, as well as my friends and family for constantly encouraging me. I can’t wait to be an Aggie!!!”

Palmer, who does her club swimming with Jersey Wahoos, most recently competed at the Speedo Summer East Championships where she placed sixth in the 200m breast, seventh in the 1500m free, and eighth in the 100m breast. She also swept the breaststroke events at Middle Atlantic Seniors in July and was the 100m breast champion at the ISCA International Senior Cup back in March.

Her best times include:

  • 100 Breast – 1:01.73
  • 200 Breast – 2:15.41
  • 200 Freestyle – 1:49.99
  • 500 Freestyle – 4:50.29
  • 1000 Freestyle – 9:56.40 (split)
  • 1650 Freestyle – 16:26.58
  • 200 IM – 2:03.41
  • 400 IM – 4:19.97

Currently a senior at Cherokee High School, Palmer owns five school records. She finished fifth in the 100 breast and sixth in the 200 free at the New Jersey Meet of Champions as a sophomore while taking second in the 100 breast and fifth in the 200 IM as a freshman.

She has also earned USA Swimming Scholastic All-American honors.
