NEW COMMIT: Alexis Baker has verbally committed to swim for UNC Asheville beginning next fall. Baker is from Kingwood, Texas. She’s a senior at Kingwood Park High School and swims for The Woodlands Swim Team.

She said of her decision,

“I’m excited to announce my commitment to study and swim at the University of North Carolina Asheville! I chose UNCA because the combination of the gorgeous campus, phenomenal coaching staff, and fabulous team can’t be beat. I can’t wait to be a Bulldog for the next four years!”

Baker is primarily a butterflier and breaststroker. At last year’s Texas 5A State Championships Baker finished fifth in the 100 fly (57.39). Her best times are:

  • 100 Fly 57.36
  • 50 Fly 26.08
  • 100 Breast 1:07.30
  • 200 Breast 2:29.03

She joins Hannah Bruno in committing to join the Bulldogs in the 2018-2019 season. Burno is also a strong 100 butterflier. Baker could also challenge for Asheville’s freshman record (57.14) in the event.
