Tess Heavner Verbally Commits to Notre Dame for 2025

NEW COMMIT: The University of Notre Dame has scored a new verbal commitment for the 2025-26 season and beyond from Tess Heavner of Fenton, Michigan.

Heavner has a long family legacy at Notre Dame, dating back to the 1920s.

She will join Ava Pape and Becky Rantz as a member of the Fighting Irish’s Class of 2029.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am blessed to announce my verbal commitment to continue mv academic and athletic career at the University of Notre Dame! I’d like to thank God, my family, and every friend, teammate, coach, and teacher who has supported me over the years. I’d also like to thank @ndswimdive coaches and swimmers for being so welcoming and supportive. GO IRISH!”

A versatile swimmer, Heavner trains year-round with Club Wolverine and raced three events at Juniors East in December. She placed sixth in the 200 back and seventh in the 200 IM at Austin Sectionals last March.

Her best times include:

  • 100 back: 54.92
  • 200 back: 1:59.46
  • 200 IM: 2:02.87
  • 100 breast: 1:03.91
  • 200 breast: 2:18.68
  • 100 fly: 56.68
  • 200 fly: 2:02.83
  • 400 IM: 4:24.65

Currently a junior at Fenton High School, Heavner won the 100 back and 200 IM at the 2023 Michigan DII State Championships. She placed second in the 200 IM and fifth in the 100 breast during her sophomore season.
